RapifleX MALDI Tissuetyper
The Center for Biostructural Imaging of Neurodegeneration (BIN) introduced in the begin of 2018 the RapifleX MALDI Tissuetyper for direct imaging of molecules from tissue sections. The RapifleX MALDI Tissuetyper uses spatial resolution proteomic and metabolomic techniques to illustrate the simultaneous distribution of hundreds of biomolecules directly on tissue samples. The Technique has a great potential for determination of new diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers, across several pathologies of overlapping/identical morphology that cannot be distinguished using established histopathological methods. The RapifleX enables molecular specificity and sensitivity to create detailed molecular images maps from tissues.
In BIN the Rapiflex MALDI Tissuetyper will provide a robust and innovative technique to explore the brain proteome changes that accompany the neurodegenerative disease and improve our understanding of the pathomechanisms of the disease.
The Rapiflex MALDI-TOF Tissuetyper is available to scientists of the University Medical Center Göttingen and the Göttingen University.
